I've been in that curry house many times. It's a damn shame what's happened up there and it's going to take years to get over it.

FYI, the name of the town comes from the fact that it's at the mouth of the river cocker, hence, cockermouth. Another river, the Derwent, also has its confluence there.

that was a storm surge. tragic, but inevitable eventually given the geography of the area. this was RECORD rainfall. rainfall that has brought down bridges that have stood for centuries, in an area that was sculpted by, so therefore can NORMALLY handle heavy rainfall.

this was an extraordinary event. totally predicted by that well known woo woo Prince Charlie. chuckle
