Good afternoon friends,
As you might have already heard, there have been recent media reports bringing to light policy changes for press coverage of Guantanamo Bay, Cuba (Gitmo). It appears that the administration has changed its media policy towards Gitmo in a way that prohibits members of the press visiting Gitmo from reporting on both the military commission hearings and the detention facility on the same trip. Instead, reporters are forced to take separate trips when covering the two venues. With no word from the administration clarifying whom this policy change came from and the reason for the change, I sent a letter to President Obama requesting answers.
In my letter, I explain that restricting journalists from reporting on both the military commission hearings at Gitmo and the detention facility at Gitmo will directly impact worldwide press access and ultimately result in less transparency. News organizations are cutting costs at every available opportunity therefore this new policy requiring journalists to take separate trips when reporting on both venues at Gitmo will likely result in less media coverage. For an Administration that has promised to be the most transparent, I believe there needs to be clarification regarding the policy change, why it has changed, and who authorized the change.
I spoke with Catherine Herridge of Fox News who has been covering this story about President Obama’s promise to close the facility and why it is necessary that his promise go unfulfilled. Either way the msm is complicit in it's continuation to carry this jerk's water by perpetuating the propaganda. It started way before he was elected and is in full force.
If not for talk radio and Fox news there would be a complete blackout on what is going on and he would either slip them back into the US but probably England and Australia as well.
Why not just send them back to their country of origin? Maybe because they are right where they need to be.
Whatever Obama is going to do it will be slight of hand. While we are busy fighting him on whatever shitty legislation he wants to pawn off on the American taxpayer , now we also have to look at what his other hand is doing.
