The offspring of a Polar bear And Brown bear, and an American big game hunter
Quote

Typical..

"Hybrids between polar and brown bears in the wild are very rare. Only one confirmed case is known,"

That hybrid bear was shot in April 2006 by an American big game hunter on Banks Island, Northwest Territories, Canada.

Considering the fact that Polar Bears evolved from Brown Bears about 200,000 years ago, I'd think such hybrids more common.

Apparently not, eh?

"Scientists believe that the polar bear is a descendant of the brown bear. It is thought to be the most recent of the eight bear species.

The polar bear probably first appeared roughly 200,000 years ago, during the Pleistocene. The polar bears of that time period were much larger than they are today, as were many other species.

Scientists believe that the polar bear evolved from a group of brown bears that became isolated by glaciers in an area near Siberia. The stranded bears underwent a rapid series of evolutionary changes in order to survive on the ice. Today's polar bear is superbly adapted to life in the Arctic.

Scientist Ian Stirling notes that today's brown bears come in a range of colors from dark to light. Those with light coats no doubt had an advantage in hunting seals, enabling the trait to be passed to future generations."...

Bear drool stinks and is very slimey! A Black bear tried to eat my camping food, but only partially succeeded before I chased him off. True story.

Not that it needs saying, but this bear story is an excellent example of Darwinism.

I'd think so, too.
