This is nothing new just go to any sanctuary city here in the U.S. and the same laws apply, or rather don't apply. If you are pulled over they cannot ask if you are legal or illegal, cannot ask for a license or insurance unless you look like an american. If you look hispanic you are fine, no problem. They have been told not to bother you. I live in one of these fine sanctuary cities here in Texas and am so tired of it. We have to carry insurance on our auto's and if we do something wrong will be pulled over. Its got where the cops just turn their heads to so much.

Of course liberal SF has to do this because they depend on exploiting illegals to keep up their lifestyle. If the maid or the gardener gets their impounded, then the liberals are left with no servants.

so laws only apply to US Citizens then if you are an "illegal" you get a pass why the hell don't we get the chance to "pick" what laws we want to obey as well? Taxes for instance..
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 798075

Excuse me? WTF? I can see giving a legal resident a chance to pick up the car they may have loaned to an illegal not knowing their status, but that's the extent of it.

It's beginning to look like we would all be better off renouncing citizenship and claiming illegal status.
We'd get jobs, benefits, and free passes around just about every lousy thing our government is trying to do to us.

in texas you can get insurance without a license of any kind. there is a such a big market of illegal aliens that insurance companies are forced to do this because if they don't their competitor will. one marketing rep i talked to said these policies actually have a very low loss ratio because the illegals are scared to use the insurance if they do have an accident. they just settle up with cash.

This was going on before Obama came to be our President. I dont' know if he had anything to do with the Sanctuary cities or not. Nor do I know how mush he had to do with trying to get amnesty for illegals before he became President. I do think I heard he is pushing it now.

In our town a lot of experienced and principled law enforcement people just quit their jobs. (Actually I think the issue was trying to force them out so they could hire less experienced and cheaper ones.)

The issue used to accomplish it? They weren't doing enough outreach to the minorities in the community. You can translate that to "They weren't kissing up to the people who are causing them the most problems."

Today I read in the paper that our Refugee Aid group is folding. The backlash of the middle class is slow but it is beginning to dawn on people that we need to take care of our own before we can handle the gargantuan task of taking care of the world's downtrodden.

Unfortunately there just isn't enough money to go around and the lion's share doesn't need to go to those who are causing problems.

Sounds cruel, but it's common sense.

I would have no problem if these illegals actually paid into the system(taxes), but as long as even one illegal does not I am against all illegals. There should be a probation period to see if these people are productive enough to stay in the country, if not, send them packing.

Re: Get stopped by the police in SF without a drivers license or insurance? No problemo!Quote

I"m speechless...

[link to www.sfgate.com]

Beginning Sunday, cops will no longer impound cars the first time drivers are pulled over without a license.

The reason: Many such drivers are in the United States illegally - and thus unable to get a license - and the officials pushing the change think that impounding their cars is an unfair hardship.

Instead, unlicensed drivers will be given 20 minutes to phone a relative or other acquaintance with a valid license and insurance to pick up the car. If the driver doesn't have a cell phone, police will help him contact someone.

If no one shows up, then the cop is to call a supervisor to approve the tow.

A second offense within six months means an automatic tow. But, for those who stay clean for half a year, the clock starts over.

The change means San Francisco will be far more accommodating to unlicensed drivers than police in Oakland, San Jose and even lefty Berkeley. Cops in all those cities impound the cars of people driving illegally.

Recently installed Police Chief George Gascón said San Francisco is "trying to be sensitive to all of the communities we serve."

"We recognize that this is a problem within the Hispanic community, where people working here can't get a driver's license because of their immigration status," Gascón said.

The 30-day car impounds have long been a sore point with the city's Latino politicos and activists, who feel the practice is unfair.

Some police officers we spoke with, however, said people without licenses are often lousy drivers - and that the change means more dangerous streets for everyone else.

"These are the same people who are sailing through stop signs and injuring people," said one traffic cop who asked not to be named for fear of retribution.

Gascón emphasized that unlicensed drivers "will still be cited. If they don't learn their lesson and repeat offend, the car will be impounded."

The chief said the change was already in the works when he came to town at the end of July. He said it had sprung from conversations between Mayor Gavin Newsom, Supervisor David Campos - who arrived here illegally from Guatemala at age 14 - and former Police Chief Heather Fong.

Newsom spokesman Nathan Ballard - whose boss is refusing to implement Campos-backed legislation barring the city from turning over illegal immigrant youths to the feds if they haven't been convicted of a felony - confirmed that when it comes to giving unlicensed drivers a break, the mayor and the supe agree.

"On this one, we're all on the same page," Ballard said.

So because a particular ethnic group (illegals to boot) doesn't like (or obey) the laws, the police are simply not going to enforce it on them?

Not that the constitution matters, but it requires equal protection under the law. If illegals have the benefit no impound or fines, then everyone should demand it.

The whole deal with this is the globalists vs. the American people. SF is the most liberal city in the country and, in this case, that equates to communism/internationalism/globalization.

Califonia has always had a love affair with cheap labor. Without the steady stream of labor, Californian's wouldn't be able to have maids, gardeners, pool boys, and various other people to serve the rich and lazy. Globalization always seeks the cheapest labor, out of which arises a ruling class that feeds on it. It was Ronal Reagan who gave the first amnesty, and that was for the benefit of the wealthy in California. Every so called liberal who supports this shit is a hypocrite of the first degree.

They are willing to do the work that our kids think is beneath them.

Funny thing is that they will elevate themselves while our youth have their noses in some electronic devise or other (tht their parents paid for!)

It's sort of funny when you look at it that way.
