"salable" blink wtf

The poster either means soluble ( hopefully) or there's vitamins for sale or there's vitamins in a salad.

Re: Vitamin D - I need facts!Quote

Not all vitamin D is the same.

20 minutes of direct sun will give you all the vitamin D you need naturally.

Most people are vitamin D deficient.

My wife's doctor prescribed 20,000 UI per day and the effests on her mood have been amazing.

Certain types of synthetic vitamin D will actually destroy the good kinds of vitamin D.

This is true of many vitamins such as C and E.

Ascorbic acid by itself is not a useful compound. The compounds found in rosehips and acerola allow ascorbic acid to be processed by the body.

vitamin E comes in two varieties: hydrophilic and hydrophobic. The are often referred too as left wound and right wound (pardon, i forgot which is which.) Most synthetic E is hydrophobic (does not bind to water) and will actually prevent the body from using the good E which is hdrophylic (does bind to water.) Chemically the two E's are identical in composition the only difference is the direction the chains form in.

Zinc and C are both vital but should bever be taken within 30 minutes of each other as they cancel each other out when taken together.

Been taking D-3 for a few months. I'm not dead.

Good enough of a recommendation for ya?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 750976

You should read the article, seriously, reading can't hurt can it?

My strongest reason as to why i started to feel that something is wrong with this Vitamin D craze was the fact that you only need like 10 minutes of sunshine to get a serious dose of vitamin D. It just seems unreasonable to waste money on something that you most likely acquire for free by just going about your daily business.

I think that depends on the intensity of the sunlight though and time of year kind of thing.
I'm sure I read somewhere( sorry can't find any link at the moment) that in some countries where they don't get a lot of sunlight some people were shown to be lacking in Vitamin D hence the need for some supplements.

Thanks for following up an offhand comment. I agree sunlight is best and have been working it in. Still not getting enough natural though.

Yeah I've heard that too but that seems unreasonable to me as well, as i understand it it is when the skin get's hit by small radioactive particles that it develops Vitamin D-3.

I might be wrong here but these particles still hit us even when when sun is low all though at a lesser degree? So it seems reasonable that we would still produce Vitamin D but at a slower rate?

Excerpt from the article:
Unfortunately the exact opposite is true. The level of 25-D in the body is not causing the illness, it is a result of the disease process.

Don't you find it curious that even though you work in the sun you still don't get enough? Give it a read, it may be lead you on to something.. who knows.

In any case, it will certainly increase your understanding about V-D

Ok, thanks again. I will read. Have it saved for when I awake. I think there was a little misunderstanding though, I said working it in, not working in it. Meaning I don't get hardly any normally. Like probably less than anyone you know. Thank you.

Re: Vitamin D - I need facts!Quote

I can't argue that it isn't the same people, but the article argues that a vitamin D deficiency is actually a symptom/process of a disease that comes from a bacteria called L-Form Bacteria witch is according to the article the cause of many chronic illnesses. And, it argues that most of the studies from the the Pharma industry are based on the wrong pretext on how Vitamin D works.

So, from the view of a conspiracy theorist I'd say the article hold it's ground as it goes against the MSM, the FDA, Pharma and nutrition/supplement industry.

I'm starting to feel that everything about Vitamin D seems to good to be true. And out of experience, I'm growing more and more skeptic towards it.

So, convince me, preferably with links, facts, and reason.

The problems:

-Vitamin D is absorbed through the skin. More clothes=less sun hitting your skin. Tough to sunbathe in winter.

-During winter, the hemisphere is not getting as much direct sunlight as during the summer...part of the reason the flu season runs during the winter.

It is fat salable, meaning if you take massive amounts of it. It could damage you, unlike water salable vitamins like c which you can take as much as you like and what your body doesn't need it discards.

Give your kids Vitamin D supplements if they aren't getting enough!

We know vitamin D helps make strong bones in kids, but a new study shows it can also be good for their brains.
