I've been told there is a test. Trinity places the word "Zionist" in various threads. The ones who were able to find the words and delete them first were chosen as mods, but I can't confirm this.

Moderators are members we have come to know and feel are not likely to place themselves or an agenda over the interests of the board. Further, it is necessary that we can work together and yet provide some balance of interests and views. A cool head and a thick skin is important. We are human, but all of us are reasonable. This is a very important factor in my estimation.
The work load and current moderator availability tends to drive the necessity of new ones. Often, when we are in need, we share amongst ourselves who we think may be a good moderator and then talk ourselves down to a few candidates. This means someone we have seen frequently and thus they have time and a known 'personality.' This assures we are looking at someone who spends time here, and has a good chance to succeed.
Primarily, ideology is not a factor; however, it is necessary that one believe in providing as much latitude as possible within the understood wishes of the owner while maintaining a forum with mass appeal. The understood rules require time to learn also.
Moderators are compensated with member privileges for our volunteered time and effort and thus receive the benefits of enjoying the board as much as time allows for free.
