Most likely, you're seeing one of the three brightest objects in the sky (apart from sun and moon) Arcturus, Canopus, or Sirius. The bob and weave drift is due to autokinesis, or involuntary muscle movement in your eye. Think about it, a massive star isn't going to bob and weave.

I live in Seattle. While on my walk just now I noticed the really bright star by the moon (~6:25pm PT). I have never seen anything like this, especially so early in the evening. Someone said it was Jupiter?? P.S. It hasn't moved that I can tell.

i was at work and and was standing at a bay door at 9:45 pm on 9/7/09 when i saw a star near the moon..i watched it for a second because i thought that was kinda wierd that a star would be that bright next to the moon but then it moved away from the moon and then hooked and was gone..i have no clue as to what it was ...
